what specifically blocks USB Host mode with nrf52?

Is there a technical reason which would prevent nrf52 from being able to work as a USB Host (only need serial device support)? I guess I'm asking what the difference between an "X" in the host box of device capability and a blank square means.

Are you able to elaborate? I thought that TinyUSB provided a software USB implementation for devices without the hardware support for USB, but could also take advantage of hardware support if it existed.

If TinyUSB isn't able to provide USB host support for a device, should that cell be marked as X? What is the difference between X and blank?

TinyUSB provide a driver for device's USB hardware.

Isn't it already marked as X with a table legend below?
