Problem to be solved

I was editing a map and my PC hard crashed, the map file got lost. But I do have an image of the map in question, taken with SDMM.
I would appreciate it if there were a way to turn the image into a "paint by numbers" DMM file, so I could replace the dummy "numbers" with the original tile.

Sugest a solution

A system that turns screenshots/images taken with SDMM into a paint by numbers dummy DMM like pic related. You'd then just have to define what each "number" is, and the map file is restored/rebuilt/created. For the example in pic related, you'd end up with the numbers grid, and would have to define "1" to be a "wall".

Another solution

A system that turns a pixelart image into a paint by numbers dummy file, defining the "size" of each pixel (32x32, for example) for the system to then translate.
