v3

Welcome to the repository for the third major version of pycord!

Why v3?

Pycord v2 is aging massively, there are still big pieces of code from 2015 and things like typing, code design and typical code quality are lacking because of this.

v3 is supposed to be a faster, easier and more Developer & Bot Developer friendly.

v3 is based on new principles:

• The best experience for both Bot Developers & Library Developers
• More code and rate-limit safety
• Better Scalability:
  • Clusters of Shards (spreadable across)
  • Massively Faster rate-limit handling
  • Support for real-time shard creation & deletion
• More Documentation, Guides and General FAQ/Support

Why not more speed with the rate-limiter?

Currently, while the rate-limiter is fast, it doesn't take advantage of several other methods (like predicting the reset of route rate-limits after the first request) mostly due to Developer Experience and because no bot needs that much speed, Carl Bot runs on discord.py^[1] and can still scale to 6m guilds.
